Individual Therapy

"Always be a first rate version of yourself,
rather than a second-rate version of someone else!"

                                                                           Judy Garland

People come to therapy because they want something to be different in their lives. They may want to change their personal or family situation, solve a particular problem, or simply bring a healthier balance to their lives. The therapy process can be fun and exciting. It can also be hard work; at times challenging, difficult, and even painful. However, the goal of therapy will always be to bring about positive change.

I employ a warm, empathetic, and sometimes humorous manner to connect with clients. I approach the process of therapy from a systemic perspective, understanding that we are all part of different systems, from our family, to our work, to our close relationships. I also value the important role emotions play in helping us to identify and solve problems, thus bringing about change. With this perspective, I utilize a variety of therapeutic tools and techniques depending on the individual and their particular situation.

My role during this change process is fluid and flexible. At times I may take the lead by asking specific questions, making certain recommendations, or being more directive. At other times I will be less directive, working in close collaboration with you to facilitate change in your life. At all times, I consider you to be the expert on yourself and your life.
